FM Kiwanis to hold free Ivanhoe picnic Oct. 8

Event will showcase park and new 9-hole youth disc golf course

Posted

FORT MADISON - Kick off fall with disc golf and a picnic at Ivanhoe Park in Fort Madison on October 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The Fort Madison Kiwanis Club and Robert Ellison have worked together to add a 9-hole disc golf course to Ivanhoe park and, with the help of a grant from Climax/Molybdenum, the course is open and ready to play.

This picnic will be a great chance to try out the new disc golf course.  All current and prospective golfers are welcome to attend.  John Shaw, the owner of Excitement Disc Golf, will be present to offer help to new players.  John Shaw has been playing disc golf since 2003 and has been a professional player since 2014.

Not interested in disc golf? Please join us anyway.  The park has other amenities including a skate park, playground and cement walking trail.  Kiwanis will be providing a lunch of hot dogs and chips and we will have face painting.  You can also enter a drawing to win a kid’s disc golf set.  All activities are offered for free, though we will be accepting free will donations to benefit our clubs’ efforts to maintain and beautify the park.
