MT. PLEASANT - Carson Rashid scored 10 points to lead Fort Madison in the team's 66-41 season opening loss to Mt. Pleasant on the road Friday night.

The Hounds, who are playing with very little varsity experience, held their own with the Panthers in the early going holding to a 15-15 first quarter tie with some fairly balanced scoring.

Five different Hounds scored in the first period, but Fort Madison was outscored 11-6 in the second period to trail 26-21 at the half. Hunter Cresswell led the Hounds with seven first half points, four inside and three from beyond the 3-point line.

Mt. Pleasant then got things cooking in the third period with 22 points, while holding Fort Madison to just 12. That trend would continue in the final period where the Panthers outscored the Bloodhounds 16-8.

Fort Madison converted just three buckets inside the 3-point line in the second half and added three more from beyond the bonus arc. They shot 5-of-10 from the free throw line.

Leif Boeding had nine points and Cresswell finished with eight points for Fort Madison. Aidan Boyer had six points for the Hounds who get back to on Friday hosting Fairfield. And then they host Mt. Vernon on Saturday at the Hound Dome.
