Emma P. Marquez, 74, of Montrose, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023 at 8:03 PM at her home.
She was born on May 7, 1948 in Amarillo, TX to Albert and Georgia Ramirez Rodriguez. On June 24, 1971 she married Thomas Marquez in Hereford, TX. Emma worked as a teachers aide in TX for six years before moving to Iowa. She then worked Head Start in Ft. Madison and also Mobile Nursing. She was a member of Holy Family Parish. Emma enjoyed singing, dancing, cooking, doing crafts and attending her kids activities. Her family was most important to her, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Marquez Sr. of Montrose; one daughter, Jackie Marquez of Iowa City; two sons, Tom (Heather) Marquez of Waterloo and Joshua (Samantha Holmes) Marquez of Solon; four granddaughters, Emerson Marquez, Mila Marquez, Ivy Marquez and Addie Holmes; one grandson, Joaquin Marquez; one sister, Stella (Angel) Villa of Fredricksburg, TX; four brothers, Fred (Emma)Rodriguez of Amarillo, TX, Danny Rodriguez of Pampa, TX; John (Rosemary) Ramirez of Hobbs, NM and Victor (Rayneen) Ramirez of Howardwick, TX; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Albert, Andrew and Ray.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 11 AM at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will meet with friends from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM. The graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Solon, IA.
