James M. Pranger, 89, of Burlington, IA and formerly of Fort Madison, IA, passed on to be with our Heavenly Father at 11:15 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023 at home surrounded by his family.  Born December 30, 1933, in Fort Madison, IA, he was the son of Edward W. & Emma. Tollman Pranger, Sr.  Jim graduated from Saint Joseph High School in Fort Madison in 1951 and joined the U.S. Navy in 1952.  He served on a LST 1101 ship until 1954 during the Korean War.  He worked at many jobs in the Early, Schaller, Sac City & Storm Lane, IA areas.  He married Helen Hausman, only to divorce later.  He married Ruth Moore in 1966 and passed away in 2006.

He is survived by: 1-daughter: Colleen Hanson of Northwest, IA; 1-sister: Rose (George) Samples of Burlington, IA; 4-grandchildren; 10-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a close friend: Patricia Vanderheiden of Sac City, IA.  He was preceded in death by: his parents, 1-brother, 4-sisters and his wife Ruth of 40+ years.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.  A graveside service will be held at a later date at Soldiers’ Circle, Oakland Cemetery in Fort Madison, IA with military honors.  Online condolences to the Pranger family may be left at the King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory website: www.kinglynk.com.
