It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kevin Wayne Hammond, 63, of Fort Madison. He departed from this world on May 26, 2023, at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington, IA. He leaves behind a profound void in the lives of his family and friends.
Kevin was born on May 6, 1960 in Keokuk, IA to Merle and Eunice (Cazey) Hammond. In 1981, Kevin married Connie Bruns, together they had Nathan and Jake. They later divorced and he married Donna Lease on October 7, 2007. Through this marriage, he gained three more children Brian, Brandi, and Breanna.
Kevin was a devoted husband who adored Donna. Whether it be taking her to buy flowers, a decoration to hang, or just a hand to hold he was always there for her. Kevin also had a love for traveling with Donna, and enjoyed finding the best places to eat. Kevin had a special bond with his grandchildren, and found immense joy in spending time with them. Their presence filled his heart with happiness, and brought a smile to his face. Kevin was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Iowa Hawkeye Wresting, and the Fort Madison Bloodhounds. He eagerly followed their games and matches. In his younger days, Kevin loved to compete and had a passion for playing softball. He worked for over 30 years at Climax Molybdenum, retiring in July 2020. After retiring he always made time to help his friends with projects and enjoyed the challenge of any home improvement.
