Florence “Flo” E. Bishop, of Marengo, IA, formerly of Fort Madison, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at her home.
Flo was born on August 23, 1942 in Franklin, IA to George and Barbara (Denning) Bishop.
She worked at the Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison before retiring from the City of Fort Madison as Supervisor in the Finance Department. She worked numerous weddings and other special events throughout the region providing bartending services. Flo was a beloved member of the community. In her later years, she moved to Marengo, IA to be closer to her grandchildren.
Flo loved trying new restaurants – was always looking for the best tenderloin, traveling when she could, playing cards, and anything her grandchildren were involved in. She had a wicked sense of humor and a laugh that invited you to join in.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Melanie Bishop of Chicago, IL, and Leslie (Scott) Edwards of Marengo, IA; two grandsons, Jace and Clay Edwards of Marengo, IA 2 sisters: Betty (Jim) Thompson of Fort Madison and Delores (John) Markey of Dallas City, IL, 2 brothers: Dale (Beverly)Bishop of Tunnel Hill, IL and Steve (Renee) Bishop of Buford, GA, several nieces and nephews, 1 best friend, whom she considered a sister: Nancy (Darrell) Thannert of Fort Madison, and 1 great-grand cat: Darla Elaine Edwards of Marengo, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Barbara Bishop, 2 brothers: George (Nadine) Bishop of Houston and Wesley Bishop, Tx, 4 Sisters: Ruth (Sonny) Farrell of Fort Madison, Marge Gunn of Oxnard, CA, and Arleta Bishop of Donnellson and Rosalie Bishop.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at King-Lynk Funeral Home and Crematory. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 with Rev James Kannenburg officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery.
