Lady Hounds outlast Mt. Pleasant in SEC win

Taylor Johnson has 13 kills in win over Panthers

MT. PLEASANT - Taylor Johnson had 13 kills to lead Fort Madison to a road win over Mt. Pleasant Tuesday night.
Elle Ruble had 10 kills. Lauryn Helmick and Aija Jenkins both had six for Fort Madison (2-3, 2-13).
Amy Yasenchok had 23 digs.
Isabella Boeding and Lexi Beebe both had three aces.
"It was another team-effort win," said head Coach Kelly Knustrom.
"I’m really proud of how this team is pushing back after a few mistakes. They have grown leaps and bounds from the beginning of the season in that aspect."
On Monday night the Lady Hounds made a rare trip across the river where they lost in two sets to West Hancock, 20-25, 14-25 in Hamilton.
Ruble led Fort Madison with five kills. Yasenchok had seven digs and Isabelle Boeding led Fort Madison from the service line with two aces.
Alexis Beebe had a perfect night serving going six for six.
"We were outworked and to be honest, they wanted it more than we did. We have to get to a place where we thrive on hard work and competition," Knustrom said.
Fort Madison is now off until Tuesday when the begin Southeast Conference tournament play at Washington High School.
