Lee County veterans group looking for volunteer drivers

Posted

LEE COUNTY - Have you been looking for a rewarding way to volunteer by helping those who have served in the armed forces? If you like to drive, are able to pass a background check, have a clean driving record, have the ability to pass a simple physical and are willing to be trained, you may be just the person we’re looking for.
Many veterans need transportation to make appointments. Lee County provides that transport to our veterans at no charge, when drivers are available. Even if all the time you have is a couple days a month, we are able to work with your schedule. It is not required that you be a veteran yourself.
Drives are primarily to the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, but we may also go to Quincy, Davenport and occasionally to other locations. Interested parties may reach out to Nikki Sugars at 319-372-5853.
If you are a veteran in need of a ride, please call the same number. We will need the last four of your social security number, name, phone number and address. Be aware that we book transportation not less than one week out.
