WEST POINT - A Burlington man has been arrested in connection with a March 21 fire in West Point.
According to a release from West Point Police Chief Brad Roberts, the West Point Police Department arrested Anthony E. Ell, 56, at his residence in Burlington on two felony charges.
A homeowner in the 600 block of Avenue E in West Point filed a complaint with the police department on March 21st and an investigation revealed allegations that an intentional fire was set on a detached garage and property damage was done to a fence.
The arrest followed a search warrant conducted at Ell’s residence in Burlington and items believed to have been used in the crimes were seized.
Ell is charged with 2nd-degree arson, a Class C felony, and 2nd-degree criminal mischief, a Class D felony.
The West Point Police Department was assisted by the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Lee County Attorney’s Office, and the Burlington Police Department.
