LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Outgoing supervisor backs Amandus

Posted
Dear Editor:

As I look forward to retiring from the board of supervisors at the end of the year, I reflect on the accomplishments of the board and of course I want the best for its future. While it is your choice to name my successor, I would appreciate you considering voting for Donna Amandas to fill my seat. There will be many issues requiring strong leadership and a solid background in local government. Both candidates have served on local government, but Donna has taken the initiative to garner a certification from the Iowa League of Municipalities. She invested over 9 month of her spare time in that endeavor. This demonstrates her dedication to her elected position, leadership and a strong desire to learn as much as possible to be effective.

There are many different facets to being on the board of supervisors, the weekly meetings are just the tip of the iceberg. Donna has demonstrated she will make the time necessary to do an effective job of both owning a business and being on the board. Donna is a business owner but her small business gives her the flexibility to set her schedule to be able to make many other meetings and duly investigate issues that are required of a supervisor.

Another reason I encourage you to support Donna on election day is she has no axe to grind or hidden agenda. She is simply seeking this seat because she wants to continue to serve the community she loves and she has the time to give back to it. Donna’s personality and make up is that of someone who is open, eager to listen and affirming. She will do a good job for all the citizens of Lee County, she has my vote and I hope she has yours too.
