Post-season awards for Kruse rush in

Lady Hound senior named co-player of the year

Camille Kruse is finding postseason recognition after completing her record-setting girls basketball career at Fort Madison High School.
Kruse was named the Southeast Conference’s co-player of the year along with Mount Pleasant’s Andrea Lopreato. She was also named to the IGCA’s All-District teams, along with Holy Trinity’s Mary Kate Bendlage and Central Lee’s Makayla Morrison.
Kruse, also a first-team all-conference selection, finished as the only Bloodhound girls basketball player to top the 1,000-point career milestone. She started all 23 games this season, averaging 17.7 points. She led Fort Madison with 102 assists and 102 steals, and was second on the team with 133 rebounds.
Kruse was named to the Southeast District’s Class 4A team. Bendlage was named to the Class 1A team, and Morrison was named to the 3A team.
Bendlage, a junior who missed the first three weeks of the season with a knee injury, averaged 23.9 points and 4.5 rebounds. She was a 42.1 percent shooter from the field, 31.1 percent in 3-pointers.
Morrison, a senior, averaged 15.5 points for the Hawks. She was second on the team with 117 rebounds and led Central Lee with 64 assists and 43 steals.
Fort Madison’s Molly Knipe was a second-team all-conference selection. Knipe averaged five points per game, but led the Bloodhounds with 176 rebounds.
