Ebbing has been with SCC since 2005, and he’s tackled a number of big projects and initiatives over the years. He led three separate website redesigns and launched the college’s first social media presence in 2008. He coordinated communications for a variety of giving campaigns, including Building the Dream, SCC’s 100th anniversary celebrations; virtual fundraising; and college awareness events. He developed a series of small business digital marketing classes; presented on marketing topics at state, regional, and national conferences; and regularly contributes articles and blog posts to NCMPR about higher ed marketing.

He has been active in NCMPR since 2006 and credits the organization with much of his professional development and skills acquisition.

“I’ve learned so much over the years from countless colleagues and friends from across the country,” Ebbing says. “Now, I’m looking forward to stepping into a leadership role and serving as a mentor to this next generation of community college communicators.”

He has served as chairperson for the Iowa Community Colleges Marketing Directors Workalike group to address higher ed communications and marketing projects since 2015, and he was vice president of marketing for Burlington Steamboat Days for three years. Ebbing has an MBA from the University of Iowa.
