Wyrick has 17 in Hawks win; Hounds drop Saturday game at Muscatine

Fort Madison loses at Muscatine
MUSCATINE – The Fort Madison Bloodhound boys basketball team dropped an 87-56 loss to Muscatine on the road Saturday.
The Hounds are coming off an emotional win over Keokuk that sealed their first Southeast Conference Championship in 10 years Thursday night.
Fort Madison put four players in double figures led by Dayton Lamar’s 13 points. Nolan Guzman and Kenden Bowie each had 12, and Julian Dear finished with 10. The Hounds got behind early in the contest falling behind 20-9 in the first period. The Muskies Kavion Hodges put up 12 in the early going. Fort Madison held him scoreless in the second quarter and held just a 10-point deficit at the half.
Muscatine would push that lead to 20 in the third as Hodges added another 16 in the second half for a game-high 28 as the Muskies pulled away.
Fort Madison (11-9) wraps up the season with a Tuesday home tilt with Ottumwa at 7:30 p.m. Brackets for Class 3A will be released Monday.

Hawks finish regular season winning 7 of 9
DONNELLSON – The Central Lee Hawks knocked off visiting Davis County 56-37 led by Brayden Wyrick’s 17.
The Hawks finish the regular season 12-9 having won seven of their last nine games. The Hawks take on Louisa-Muscatine on Monday night with the winner traveling to West Burlington on Thursday. Central Lee is seeded 4th in Substate 5, District 9.
Wyrick hit 9-of-10 from the free throw line to go with his eight points from the field in Thursday’s win over the Mustangs. Will Hayes had 14 in the win and Kaden Swan had 9.
The junior varsity also won and finishes their season with a 14-5 mark.
