HTC's Hellige hits for 42; Hounds hit 81 at Davis County Monday

Hellige goes for 42 at HTC win in Missouri
KAHOKA – Holy Trinity Catholic’s Luke Hellige outscored Clark County with 42 points in a 61-39 interstate matchup Monday night in Kahoka, Mo.
HTC improves to 17-4 on the season with the win and remains at 10-4 in SEI Super Conference play with the post-season just a week away. The Crusaders kick off districts on Monday when Columbus (6-14) comes to Fort Madison in opening round play.
Holy Trinity raced to a 31-18 first half lead and then erupted for 23 points in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach. Corbin Van Niewaal had six points for HTC.

Central Lee boys rout Cardinal at home
DONNELLSON – The Central Lee Hawks rolled Cardinal 80-30 Monday night at home in a SEI Super Conference cross-division matchup.
The win moves Central Lee to 11-9 overall and they stand at 8-6 in the SEISC South Division. They host Davis Junction (12-8) on Thursday night and then start the post-season at home with Louisa-Muscatine Monday night.
Central Lee opened strong with 20 points in the first quarter highlighted by Will Hayes' eight points. Hayes led the Hawks with 17 on the night. Brayden Wyrick had 13. The Hawks had 12 players score in the game. Central Lee held a 47-17 lead at halftime and rested most of their starting lineup in the 4th quarter.

Hounds hit 81 in win over Davis County
BLOOMFIELD – Fort Madison got 27 points from Nolan Guzman in an 81-51 win over Davis County in non-conference boys' basketball action Monday night.
The Hounds improve to 10-8 on the year and stay at 6-2 in the Southeast Conference. The Hounds take on Keokuk Thursday night on the road in a game that could determine the conference title.
Kenden Bowie had 19 points and Darius Foy added 12 points for the Bloodhounds.
Fort Madison jumped out to an 18-8 first quarter lead and stretched that to 24 points at the half, leading 40-16. They would hold that 24-point advantage through the 3rd period and would work in the bench in the 4th quarter.

Central Lee girls hold off Cardinal
DONNELLSON – The Central Lee Lady Hawks knocked off visiting Cardinal 56-47 in a SEI Super Conference cross division game Monday night.
Lizzy Mason scored 17 to lead Central Lee. Kenna Sandoval had 14 and nine rebounds.  Taylor Jones led the Hawks with 10 boards to go along with 10 points. Mason had 13 steals.
With the win, Central Lee moves to 10-11 on the year but has fared better in the Super Conference going 9-5.
The Hawks open regional play Saturday with a trip to Mid-Prairie (15-5) with a 7 p.m. start time.
