St. Paul man charged with homicide in 2021 accident

Lee County Attorneys office makes arrest in case on Thursday

LEE COUNTY - A St. Paul man has been charged with homicide after a collision that took place last March on U.S. 61 south near Fort Madison.
Robert Lavern Keith, 27, of St. Paul, has been charged with Homicide by Vehicle Reckless Driving, a class C Felony, for his involvement in the traffic accident that occurred on March 2, 2021 that claimed the life of Andy Joe Annegers, 62, of Gladstone, Illinois.
Annegers was driving a Zetor 8441 diesel farm tractor southbound on the inside lane of U.S. 61 when a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Keith struck the tractor from behind. The tractor then went into the ditch on the west side of the road. Annegers died at the scene.
Donnellson and West Point Police, West Point Fire, Lee County EMS, and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office were the responding agencies.
The Iowa State Patrol was the investigating agency and it is being prosecuted by the Lee County Attorney’s Office.
Keith was arrested on September 22, 2022 and is being held at the Lee County Jail with a $10,000 cash only bond.
All Defendants in criminal cases are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
