Letter to the Editor:

We have just completed our Fort Madison Elementary Schools Walk/Rock A Thon for 2020. Each year we design and sell T-shirts that promote the event and sell sponsorships to businesses who are then published on the back of our shirts. Sponsorships make the cost of our t-shirts paid. We are so pleased to announce and thank the following GENEROUS T-shirt sponsors for 2020:

Menke and Company,Community Heating and Cooling, Weisinger Farms, Fort Madison Community Hospital, Candice’s Beauty Studio, Farmers Savings Bank, Fraise Auction and Real Estate, Agrineed, Inc., H and R Block, Dr. Mark Pothitakis Family Dentistry, HyVee, Group Benefit Partners, Mohrfeld Solar, Hoenig Tree Service, Rashid Pharmacy and Wellness, IEC International Eyecare Center, Truck Repair Inc., Pilot Grove Savings Bank, Madison Turf and Timber, Connection Bank and Insurance, Hellige Lawn Care, Ideal Ready Mix Co. Inc., Kempker’s True Value Rental, and Conn Communication Inc.

We additionally received donations from our community members to purchase shirts for the children who were unable to afford shirts this year. These caring individuals helped well over150 children have a memory T-shirt. An additional thank you goes to :

  1. Pen City Current : Event Sponsor
  2. Carl A Nelson : donations
  3. HyVee for water donations for all the children.
  4. Kelly Nelton, CPA for her financial guidance.
  5. Tiffany Wibbel for making our top seller masks.
  6. All parents who helped collect donations for the Walk/Rock A Thon

We faced the unprecedented challenge of safety conducting this 2020 fundraiser. We had to cancel gathering at the High School track and modify the entire event. We weren’t able to include our families in attendance. We had to conduct two Walk/Rock A Thons and happily find a way to include our 100% on line students. In spite of the financial strains that the pandemic has brought our families and community members ......all have continued to rally and support the wonderful students and staff of Lincoln and Richardson schools. We were able to raise over $20,000 for our school expenses. We are so proud to be a part of this caring community!!!
