Movies to Get You in the Christmas Mood
The movies included in this article can be checked out of library on DVD or streamed using Kanopy which is free with your library card.

Very Christmassy

 Community Calendar
We have begun adding community events to the online library calendar at https://fortmadison.librarycalendar.com.  Events are added to the calendar as they are submitted by community organizations using the form found here https://tinyurl.com/547jam3h.  Does your group have an upcoming community event?  Let us know by submitting it through the form.  Most community events open to the public are eligible for inclusion in the community calendar.

 Cozy Reading Challenge Winter Reading Program
We will be having an adult winter reading program beginning in January for anyone ages 14 and older.  The goal of the cozy theme is to use reading and activities to help battle the winter blues and blahs while winning prizes.  Registration will begin January 2 with more details to come near the end of December.

Upcoming Events at the Fort Madison Public Library –
Library Closings in December – The library will be closed Saturday, December 24 through Monday, December 26 for the Christmas holiday.  The library will be closed on Monday, January 2 for the New Year Holiday.
Pre-School/Toddler Story Hour –Wednesday morning at 10:30.
Hang Teen – Tuesday, 3:30-5:00 for ages 12-19.
Minecraft –3:30-5:00, all ages on Mondays.
Once Upon a Wednesday –Join us from 1:30-2:30 for a variety of adventures.  December 7 will be a Christmas food craft.  December 14 will be a decorative box craft.
Thursday Crafternoon –Thursday, 3:30-5:00, for ages 14-adult.  This program is an opportunity to spend some time working on an in-depth project for the whole month. 
Christmas Ornament Workshop - Friday, December 23 from 10am to noon.  Stop in and enjoy some Christmas goodies while making some new ornaments for your Christmas tree.
All Booked Up! - The library's book discussion group meets on the first Thursday of the month at 1:30 p.m.  On Thursday, January 5, we will be discussing "Cozy” by Isabel Gillies.  On February 2, we will be discussing “Hidden Figures” by Margot Lee
Cook the Book –December 13, at 6:00 pm, we will be sharing recipes selected from “Better Homes and Gardens: Christmas Cooking from the Heart”. January 10 will feature, “The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook”.
