Banks & Beals Funeral Home obituary – Sharon Sue Granneman, 78, Niota



Sharon Sue Granneman, 78, of Niota, Illinois passed away peacefully at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at her home with her family at her side.

She was born November 9, 1943 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Eldon and Audrey Trimble Snyder.

She was a 1961 graduate of the Dallas City, Illinois High School. She worked at the Italian Village Pizza, Sylvania, Colusa State Bank, Iowa State Bank and retired from Union Electric/Alliant and the Wye Knot in Niota.  Sharon enjoyed gardening each summer, reading, crocheting, spending time with her MAC girls and loved her dachshunds who were always at her side.

She is survived by a daughter, Kelly Harkey of LaHarpe, Illinois, a son, Jeff Smith of Bohol, Philippines, a sister that she raised, Ruth (Duane) Harms of Crystal Lake, Iowa, daughter-in-law, Behbe Smith of Fort Madison, Iowa, four grandchildren, Heather (Matt) Halbrook, Megan (Justin) Sparrow, David R. Smith and Eva Smith and four great-granddaughters. She is also survived by a sister, Linda Zeh of Bonaparte, Iowa and a brother, Kenneth Snyder of Fresno, California.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her son-in-law, Mac Harkey, two brothers, George Snyder and Eldon Snyder and sister, Marie Snyder.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2022 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Fr. Tony Trosley officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the Ravanna Cemetery, Ravanna, Missouri. A celebration of her life will be held at the Wye Knot in Niota, at a time and date to be announced.
