LEE COUNTY – The National Weather Service is warning residents about a powerful storm projected for the area, including Lee County, to prepare for some potentially damaging weather Tuesday evening.
NWS has the county under a Hazardous Weather Outlook with a moderate risk of severe weather. The forecast includes possible tornadoes, isolated wind gusts of up to 60 mph with sustained winds of 30 to 40 mph, and large hail.
The storm is expected to hit the area between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. with a tight line of thunderstorms that will move through the area very quickly with possible power outages due to downed tree limbs and power lines.
Morning thunderstorms are expected as well, but those are isolated in nature and not severe.
Residents are encouraged to plan for severe weather impacts during the evening hours on Tuesday, including potential derecho conditions.
