Fort Madison police respond to victim at SEI Regional Medical Center

FORT MADISON - Fort Madison police have arrested a Fort Madison man on charges of domestic assault with a weapon after allegedly slashing a victim's head and neck.
On Saturday, April 12th at approximately 12:48 p.m., the Fort Madison Police Department responded to the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center- Fort Madison campus for a subject with lacerations to their head and neck area.
The condition and sex of the victim were not provided, but the arrest took place at the hospital.
Officers arrived on scene and were able to identify the suspect as Kristopher Murie, no age provided. As a result of the investigation, police have initially charged Murie with Violation of a No Contact Order, Willful Injury-causing serious injury, and Domestic Abuse Assault-with a weapon. He was transported to the Lee County Jail and remains in custody.
This case remains under investigation currently.
A criminal charge is only an accusation, and criminal defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
