Joel Don Amandus, 63, of Fort Madison, Iowa died Saturday, April 27, 2024 at his home. He was born June 24, 1960 in Clear Lake, Iowa, a son of Don and Virginia (Anderson) Amandus.  On July 2, 2005, he married Donna Campbell. They later divorced, but remained best friends. Joel worked for years as a service writer for Shottenkirk, Fort Madison until his retirement. He loved fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his Cabaret family. He beamed with pride watching his son, Jack, do all things, but most of all when he played his guitar. 
He is survived by his best friend, Donna Amandus; his sons: Jackson Joel Don Amandus, Trent (Char) Justice; and Dylan (Corbyn) Schrader; one daughter, Whittney (Zac) Fuller; one brother, Dave Amandus of Fort Dodge, Iowa; and his grandchildren:  Ashton, Greyson, Haizleigh, and baby Harlynn Ann on the way, Brennan and Callan, Birdie and Lyle. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Janice, and one brother, Dan.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 11, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Cabaret, 1337 Ave G, Fort Madison. A memorial has been established for Jack's education.  Barr Memorial Chapel is honored to serve the Amandus family, and an online guest book can be found at www.barrmemorialchapel.com.
