FORT MADISON – HTC’s Mary Kate Bendlage continues to rack up honors in her final year as a Crusader.|
The senior surpassed 1,000 points Friday night and then went over Sara Fedler's school record of 1,017 on Saturday when Holy Trinity rolled Winfield-Mt.Union 68-15 in a SEI Superconference South Division match up at Shottenkirk Gymnasium in Fort Madison.
The game was in no doubt as Holy Trinity got 32 points from Bendlage, 26 in the first half. Teagan Snaadt added nine, all on 3-pointers, as the Lady Crusaders opened up a 24-5 first quarter lead and never looked back. The second quarter was just as lopsided with HTC opening up a 54-10 lead at the break.
Head Coach Tony Johnson then started emptying the bench, getting 13 players into the game with no starters even playing in the fourth quarter.
Presley Myers had eight points and Natalie Randolph had five in the rout. Also scoring for the Crusaders were Reagan Holvoet and Adalyn Kruse, each with six points, and Ellie Hellman had a bucket.
The Crusaders are planning a recognition for Bendlage at Tuesday’s home matchup with Clark County.
Holy Trinity improves to 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the SEI Superconference South.
