Birkwood Village of Fort Madison and Montrose Health Center are pleased to announce the appointment of Ann Abolt as their Administrative Consultant. She has nearly 20 years’ experience in Long Term Care as an Administrator at The Klein Center and Park Place Elder Living. Ms. Abolt earned the honors of IHCA Administrator of the Year in 2013 and oversaw the building and opening of The Klein Center in 2013.

She is very excited to continue her work in providing what is best for the residents of Birkwood Village and the Montrose Health Center. Ms. Abolt states that when someone moves into Long Term Care it does not mean that they stop living. “I like to think that we can make their days fulfilling and partner with them in directing their care. By focusing on resident-centered care we can achieve better health and well-being for our residents and our fantastic staff. We want both of our communities, Birkwood Village and Montrose Health Center, to be the top choices for skilled and long-term care in Southeast Iowa and beyond.”

Ms. Abolt will consult and help to lead management at both communities, and she will serve as the Interim Administrator at Birkwood Village of Fort Madison. Mallory Orton will continue as the Administrator at the Montrose Health Center.

Birkwood Village of Fort Madison and Montrose Health Center have also appointed Jen Loyd as their Nurse Consultant. Ms. Loyd had previously served as the Director of Nursing at The Klein Center and Park Place Elder Living. She will work with Ann Abolt and the nursing staffs to implement non-traditional long term care services by providing “elder directed care to improve the quality of life to all those who reside at Birkwood Village and Montrose Health Center.” She is dedicated to contributing to the high quality of nursing available at Birkwood Village and Montrose Health Center and to build a culture of family and love.

Birkwood Village of Fort Madison offers a continuum of care by providing services for independent and assisted senior living, memory care, skilled/rehabilitative care, ventilator care, and long-term care. Montrose Health Center offers skilled/rehabilitative care and long-term care. Both health care communities are Iowa owned and operated.
