Iowa's oldest county fair kicks off July 8 in Donnellson

Posted

There’s something about the smell of funnel cakes in the air that says summer is officially in full swing — and around here, that can only mean one thing: it’s almost time for the Lee County Fair in Donnellson, happening July 8–13.
Welcome to Iowa’s oldest county fair, where we celebrate creativity, cars, cattle, and corndogs! The fair has a little something for everyone. From carnival rides and livestock shows to the demolition derby — it’s classic small-town Iowa at its best.
If you're the crafty, green-thumbed, or baking-inclined type, now’s your time to shine — entries for the Art Hall are due by 9 AM on Sunday, July 7. Categories include everything from Photography and Quilts to Fruits, Veggies, Arts & Crafts, and more.
And don’t miss Kids Day on Friday! The Fort Madison and Keokuk Tourism offices will be handing out goodies and sharing all the family-friendly, free, and festival-filled events coming up across Lee County.
