Central Lee, HTC boys open districts at home

Crusaders No. 2 seed in 1A; Central Lee No. 4 seed in 2A

LEE COUNTY - Holy Trinity is the No. 2 seed in Class 1A District 8 and Central Lee is the No. 4 seed in Class 2A District 9 in the boys basketball pairings released Monday by the Iowa High School Athletic Association.
Both teams will be the host for their opening games. Holy Trinity (16-4) will play No. 7 seed Columbus (6-14) in a quarterfinal on February 17. Central Lee (10-9) will play No. 5 seed Louisa-Muscatine (10-11) in a quarterfinal on February 17.
Class 3A and 4A pairings will be announced February 17..
A look at each substate:
CLASS 1A SUBSTATE 4: Notre Dame (16-4), ranked 10th in 1A, is the top seed in District 8 and will play the winner of eighth seed Wapello (3-17) and No. 9 seed New London (1-20), who play Friday in the first round, in a February 17 quarterfinal. No. 4 seed Winfield-Mount Union (13-8) will play fifth seed Pekin (13-7) in the other February 17 quarterfinal.
No. 3 seed WACO (15-5) will play sixth seed Danville (9-13) in a quarterfinal, with the winner playing either Holy Trinity or Columbus in a semifinal on February 20.
The district final is on February 25.
North Linn, ranked eighth, is the top seed in District 7 and will play either No. 8 seed Rivermont Collegiate or No. 9 seed Highland in a district quarterfinal. No. 4 seed Springville will play No. 5 seed Cedar Valley Christian. No. 2 seed Hillcrest Academy will play seventh seed Central City and No. 3 seed Keota will play No. 6 seed Lone Tree.
CLASS 2A SUBSTATE 5: The Central Lee/Louisa-Muscatine winner will face top seed and 10th-ranked West Burlington (18-2) in the district semifinal on February 20.
No. 3 seed Mediapolis (12-9) will play No. 6 seed Cardinal (2-17) in another quarterfinal, with the winner playing No. 2 seed Mid-Prairie (16-4) in the semifinal.
The district final is on February 25.
Grand View Christian (18-1), ranked sixth, is the top seed in District 10. It will play the winner of No. 4 seed PCM and No. 5 seed Van Buren County in one semifinal. No. 2 seed Davis County will play either No. 3 seed Pella Christian or No. 6 seed Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont in the other semifinal.
