Fort Madison is kicking off May with a full weekend of activity, offering something for visitors and locals alike to enjoy.
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo this Saturday in the heart of downtown along 6th Street on Avenue G from 2 to 9 p.m. This event highlights the culture of Iowa’s oldest Mexican community, featuring live music, authentic food, play area for the kids and a fun atmosphere that will fill the street and pour over into Boozy Rae’s and the Moose Lodge.
Also on Saturday, the Pen City Cruisers will host their 10th Anniversary Car Show at Riverview Park. Car enthusiasts can stroll through a wide variety of classic and custom vehicles, with judging taking place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and awards presented at 3 p.m. The show is held at the Pavilion parking lot, so make this your first stop while walking along the riverfront!
On Sunday, the excitement continues as Twisted Cat Outdoors returns to Fort Madison for a major fishing tournament. More than 50 teams and over 100 anglers will compete on Pool 19 in search of trophy catfish. Boat check in begins at 5am for the early risers!
It’s the beginning of tourism season so let’s give a warm welcome and help showcase the best of our area. Find more events at www.visitfortmadison.com/events.
