City historic group offering downtown tour

FORT MADISON - Join the Fort Madison Historic Preservation Commission and travel back in time as you explore the history of downtown Fort Madison through historic photographs, fascinating stories, and the architecture that has shaped our community for generations. This guided walking tour will take you along Avenue G, Avenue H, and 7th Street, highlighting the people, businesses, and buildings that made downtown the heart of Fort Madison.  
The tour will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 6:00 pm with the starting location at the Moose Lodge, 624 Avenue G. Tickets for the tour: $15.00 per person and includes a booklet of the buildings highlighted on the tour. Our host site, the Moose Lodge is hosting their annual Shrimp Boil on August 1st. Dinner starts at 5:00 pm and tickets are $25.00 each.  If you would like to join in on the Moose Lodge’s Shrimp Boil, tickets can be purchased with Greg Smith at 319-470-4071.
