FORT MADISON - The City of Fort Madison is hosting three community meetings for the opportunity for residents to share ideas for the City of Fort Madison Comprehensive Plan Update. In 2013, the City of Fort Madison completed a Comprehensive Plan that was used for future planning and development of the community.
City Manager Laura Liegois said city staff is looking at creating a new plan off the 12 year old plan.
"We're looking for some people to join us to give us some thoughts as to our current plan and things we're doing. We've already gone through community visioning a year ago, so that will help us with the plan update," she said.
Liegois said the city is also working with Lee County Economic Development Group on a regional housing study.
"That will be kicking off soon so that will help with the process also."
She said other work with planning and zoning, as well as sewer separation projects at 10th Street, will also be part of the discussions.
"It’s now time to update the Plan and to ensure that the city has completed and continues to work on the current Plan with the additions of new items for the future. There will be opportunities to view other city projects at this time," she said.
The city welcomes public participation at the following meetings and locations from residents, business owners, and anyone interested in the future planning of our community:
