Lee County Conservation hosts Christmas in July and free paddle on July 25

Posted

WEST POINT - Lee County Conservation invites the community to enjoy a full evening of family fun on Saturday, July 25, with two special events taking place at Pollmiller Park - a Free Family Paddle Night at the beach and the campground's annual Christmas in July celebration.
Beginning at 5:00 p.m., families are invited to the Pollmiller Park Beach to experience kayaking, canoeing, and paddle boating at no cost. Whether you're trying paddling for the first time or simply looking for a relaxing evening on the water, Lee County Conservation Naturalists will be available to provide instruction and assistance throughout the event.
As part of the event, beach admission will be free beginning at 5:00 p.m., and the beach will remain open an extra hour until 8:00 p.m. Lee County Conservation kayaks, canoes, paddle boats, paddles, and life jackets will be provided free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
While you're at Pollmiller Park, be sure to visit the campground for one of the park's favorite annual traditions - Christmas in July!
Campers will transform their campsites into festive holiday displays, competing for prizes, bragging rights, and the title of this year's Christmas in July champion. Visitors are encouraged to drive through the campground and enjoy the decorated campsites until 8:00 p.m. Beginning at 8:00 p.m., the campground road will close to vehicle traffic, creating a safe and enjoyable walk-through experience for guests to admire the displays and vote for their favorite decorated campsite.
Although reservable campsites for the weekend are full, walk-up campsites will still be available for those wishing to join the festivities.
"There's something for everyone during this special evening," said Lee County Conservation Admin. & Outreach Coordinator, Caroline Sestito. "Families can spend time on the water, cool off at the beach, and then enjoy a stroll through the beautifully decorated campground. It's a unique way to celebrate summer while getting into the Christmas spirit."
Both events are free to attend, and no registration is required for the Family Paddle Night.
