Donnellson launches OctoberFest on Oct. 8

Festivities start at 8 a.m. throughout community

DONNELLSON - The Donnellson Vision group is sponsoring an OctoberFest on Oct. 8 throughout Donnellson.

The day starts with a Friends of the Library Book Sale at 8 a.m. at the city library. A classic car cruise, decorated pumpking contest,  bounce house, sand art and pick-a-pumpkin all start at 10 a.m.

At 11 a.m., the Donnellson Fire Department will be the site of a community lunch where brats/hamburgers with two sides will be available for $10. 

At noon River City Baggers is holding a Bags Tournament on Main Street, and Kids Yoga is planned for noon and 1 p.m. sessions. BINGO is also slated for 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Community Room. Face painting and Balloon animals are also being offered as youth activities starting at 1 p.m. as part of the Family Activities in the Park.

A Choppers Axe Throwing contest kicks off a 3 p.m. in the Pilot Grove Savings Bank parking lot and a food truck will be on site from Bun Buseter & Low N Slow beginning at 3 p.m.

The Lee Henry Road Band will perform at Stumble Inn from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and there will be a Hawkeye Tailgate Party & Trivia at Stumble Inn beginning at 4 p.m.

The evening wraps up at 7:15 with a free showing the Halloween classic Hocus Pocus at the  city library.
