KEOKUK - Kara Lake and Hadley Wolfe each had two goals as Fort Madison’s girls soccer team defeated Keokuk 4-0 on Monday night.
Wolfe opened the scoring with a goal with 11:48 left. Lake scored with 7:11 to play to push the lead to 2-0. Lake’s second goal came 3:45 into the second half. Wolfe closed the scoring with a goal with 7:42 to play.
Wolfe had two assists. Halle Menke had one. Ellie Hellman had six saves for the Bloodhounds. FM moves to 2-0 on the year, while Keokuk drops to 2-2 on the year. Keokuk trailed at halftime 2-0. Relina Wong had 22 saves.
Keokuk hosts Monmouth-Roseville Tuesday, April 14th at 5:00 before traveling to Fairfield on Thursday, April 16th.
Central Lee boys drop Holy Trinity
DONNELLSON – Caleb Larson was the medalist at a dual golf meet between the Central Lee Hawks and Holy Trinity Catholic Crusaders Monday night.
Larson shot a 35 to lead Central Lee to a 152-196 win. Carson Morrison carded a 37 followed by Mylan Lowenberg and Kaden Swan with 40 each to round out Central Lee’s scoring golfers. Max Kruse led HTC with a 44. Other scoring golfers for the Crusaders included Blake Mohrfeld (49), Jameson Denning (50), and Zane Houtz (53).
In the girls' match, HTC got the win 221-252 paced by Elizabeth Griffin’s 48. Emma Mohrfeld (50), Eva Denning (56), and Calli Kruse (67). Marie Young led the Lady Hawks with a 52, followed by Summer Hunold’s 61, Makayla Mertens’ 67, and Ava Derr (72).
Quittem fourth at SEC meet in Washington
WASHINGTON – Junior Cole Quittem shot a 40, three shots off the pace, at the Southeast Conference rotation at Washington Golf & Country Club Monday night.
Rajan Roth was medalist for the third straight SEC event with a 37. Fort Madison finished 5th behind Keokuk (176), Mt. Pleasant (175), Fairfield (168), and winner Washington at 159.
Freshman Jared Jenkins shot a nice 43, while Rowan Benda and Colton Boyer both shot 48s to round out the scoring golfers for the Hounds.
Keokuk’s Kyler Beelman and Carter Land both had 43s to lead the Chiefs.
