FORT MADISON - Fort Madison honors the work of the Fort Madison Historic Preservation Commission and encourages residents to explore, appreciate, and support the historic sites that define our city’s character. The City of Fort Madison is home of numerous historical homes and buildings.
In honor of National Historic Preservation Month, the Fort Madison Historic Preservation Commission is hosting the following programs at 5:30 pm at the CB&Q Depot, located at the Santa Fe Depot Complex, each Monday in the month of May.
Monday, May 4th: Painting and Historic Buildings and Homes - Jared Willyerd will share his knowledge on handling lead base paint from the past and painting historic homes and buildings.
Monday, May 11th: State of Iowa Historic Preservation Office - Allison Archambo of the State of Iowa Historic Preservation Office for information and programs on historic preservation in Iowa.
Monday, May 18th: Restoration of Old Windows - Jared Willyerd demonstrates how to take old windows and give them new life to keep the historic integrity in modern times.
