FORT MADISON – With late season forfeits abound, the Fort Madison Bloodhound boys' and girls' wrestling teams both took dual wins from Keokuk Thursday night, on senior night for the Lady Hounds.
The Fort Madison girls rode two pins from Mara Smith at 130 lbs. and Iris Arevalo at 120 in the dual that only saw three wrestling matches. The other match was a Keokuk win where Jalyiah Gardner won over Kat DiPrima by a 10-0 major decision. DiPrima broke into the IAWrestle rankings at No. 10 in Class 2A at 140 lbs. Smith maintained her spot as the 6th best wrestler at 130 lbs.
Fort Madison ran 10 wrestlers out to the mat with only three seeing action. The Lady Hounds forfeited at four weights.
The girls are off until Friday, Jan. 31 when they travel to Iowa City High School for regional wrestling action. They will compete with Davenport West, Bettendorf, Iowa City High, Burlington, Pleasant Valley, North Scott, and Marion. Wrestling begins at 4 p.m. with each weight class’ champion and runner-up advancing to the state wrestling tournament Feb. 6 and 7th at Xtream Arena in Coralville.
