Food pantry golf event this Saturday

DONNELLSON - Shanks Fore! Food Banks, a 4-person golf scramble benefiting the Fort Madison Food Pantry and the Farmington Food Pantry UMC, will be held at Green Acres Golf Course & Restaurant in Donnellson at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 4.
There is something for everyone in this fun charity event, so if you’ve been wondering how you can address hunger in southeast Iowa and have fun at the same time, mark the date on your calendar, grab a friend or three, and come see what it’s all about!
The ten-hole golf tournament will have special games and challenges at every hole and is designed to be enjoyed by golfers of every level. The tournament will be operated with four person teams, but golfers without a full team can sign up individually or as a small group and be combined with other golfers to make a four person team. A food drive for the two food pantries is being held across Donnellson through October 4. Donations can be left at Grass Roots Market, Pilot Grove Savings Bank, or Krehbiel Law Office. All items donated will be evenly distributed between the Fort Madison and Farmington food pantries.
While food insecurity remains somewhat hidden from public view, it continues to increase dramatically for children and families in southeast Iowa, with the Fort Madison Food Pantry alone serving over 500 families each month. 100% of the entry fees and donations will directly help your friends and neighbors who do not have enough to eat. Whether or not you are able to participate in this event, please consider supporting your local food pantry with donations of cash or food all throughout the year.
