Former FMHS coach Troxel wins Wisconsin award

RICHLAND CENTER - The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association (WCA) has released their annual list for the 2023 Hall of Fame Class and Coaching Awards.
The selection committee has awarded Andrew Troxel, head football coach at Richland Center High School, as the 2023 recipient for the Marge and Dick Rundle Positive Influence of Coaching Award.
This award was first awarded in 2008 and Coach Troxel is the 16th overall recipient of this award. Coach Troxel is the second head coach from the Southwest Wisconsin Conference to ever receive the award. Coach John Hoch (Lancaster) was the first in 2012 Coach Troxel was nominated by a local community member and multiple letters of recommendation and testimonies were sent in with the application materials. Testimonies included letters from parents, colleagues, community members, and former athletes from both lowa & Wisconsin.
The criteria for the award needed to include the following:
1. The coach must be an active high school head football coach
2. That positive influence should be reflected in his community service, his mentoring and role modeling, and finally measured by the lives he has touched and changed.
3. The nomination should be accompanied by examples and personal testimonies.
Coach Troxel will be recognized with the members of the 2023 Hall of Fame Class and other Coaching Award recipients at the 2023 WFCA banquet in the spring in Middleton.
