Gillette gets 15 years in prison on sex crimes

On April 21, 2023, Metallie Gillette, 24, of Fort Madison, pled guilty to Sexual Abuse in the 3rd degree, a class C Felony and Incest, a class D Felony.
The charges stemmed from an incident that occurred in Fort Madison, North Lee County, Iowa between October 15, 2022 and November 15, 2022 in which Gillette sexually abused a minor. Des Moines County Sheriff’s Investigators discovered evidence during an investigation in Des Moines County, which led to the execution of a search warrant in Fort Madison. Media evidence was discovered, and Gillette was subsequently charged on December 1, 2022.
On June 9, 2023, Gillette was sentenced to one ten-year prison term and one five-year sentence to run consecutive to each other, for a total of fifteen years to be served within the Iowa Department of Corrections. Gillette is also subject to a lifetime special sentence with the Iowa Department of Corrections and is required to register as a sex offender for her lifetime.
The Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office was the investigating agency with assistance from the Fort Madison Police Department. The matter was prosecuted by the Lee County Attorney’s Office.
