FORT MADISON –  Sophomore Elizabeth Griffin gave Holy Trinity 16 points in a 38-28 win over Danville Friday night.
Griffin connected on three 3-balls on the night, two in the second half, to lead the Crusaders to their third straight win to start the season.
HTC’s defense was the story in the first quarter, holding Danville to just one bucket and an 8-2 lead. The Bears stabilized things in the second period battling Holy Trinity 13-11 for a seven-point halftime deficit.
Holy Trinity would stretch the lead to nine 31-22 and then would stick the Bears at 22 for the first five minutes of the final period, and then would keep the Danville girls at arms length the rest of the way.
Adalyn Kruse was also in double figures for HTC with 12 points. Raegan Henkelvig led Danville with 10 points.
The HTC ladies have three games next week starting with Mt. Pleasant at home Monday, then travel to West Burlington Friday night, and are on the road Saturday at Pella.
