FORT MADISON – A Saturday afternoon accident north of West Point has landed a Fort Madison businessman in the hospital with serious injuries.
Clark Griffin and his wife, Nannette, who ran for state office on several occasions, were both injured after a vehicle collided with them at about 5 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Hwy. 16 and 240th Avenue in Lee County.
Clark Griffin was airlifted to Iowa City with multiple non-life threatening injuries and remains hospitalized in the trauma center awaiting surgery. Nannette Griffin was taken to Henry County Health Clinic in Mt. Pleasant where she was treated and released.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, there were seven occupants in two vehicles and all were transported to area hospitals. The first vehicle, a blue Mitsubishi Outlander, had five occupants of ages 37, 31, 51, 8, and 9. No genders were identified on the reports. The 31-year-old was driving the vehicle which the report indicated failed to stop at the stop sign northbound on 240th Avenue and was struck by Griffin’s vehicle.
The 37-year-old in the Mitsubishi was airlifted by MedForce to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. The other four victims in the Mistubishi were transported by ambulance to Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center.
Nannette and Clark operate Griffin Muffler and Brake Center in Fort Madison.
Lee County and Henry County ambulance services, Lee County Sheriff's Office, Denmark Fire & Rescue, Iowa State Patrol, West Point Fire & Rescue, West Point and Donnellson Police, MedForce, AirEvac, and LeeComm Dispatch all assisted with the incident.

Why is this article just about them. I’m sorry they was in accident but there are other people who was involved and that was hurt and far worse than them and there was nothing reported. Is it because they are local business owners. Again all around very sorry for the accident but a very very biased articled
