DONNELLSON – The Central Lee Hawks boys basketball team got it’s first win of the year Monday night in a big way.
The Hawks rolled Columbus at home 67-25 in a non-division SEI Superconference matchup to move to 1-3 on the season. They stand at 0-2 in South Division conference action.
Sophomore Carson Morrison led the way for the Hawks with 18 points, 15 of which came in the first half when the Hawks raced to a 35-8 lead. Morrison hit two 3-pointers and six total from the field. But the better stat may have been that 11 other players scored for Central Lee in what was a very balanced scoring attack.

And Central Lee’s defense held the Wildcats scoreless in the second quarter allowing Head Coach Jonny Swanson to go deep into the bench and get some playing time for the role players.
Senior Brayden Wyrick was next with eight points as most of the starters didn’t play in the final period. Owen Swan and Brody Moeller each had seven in the win.
The Hawks host Danville (0-2, 1-2) Friday night in a boys/girls varsity doubleheader to wrap up the week.
Evan Fogarty had 22 points in the junior varsity contest also won by the Hawks 61-34. Caedon Newton has 11 for Central Lee.
