DONNELLSON – The Central Lee Hawks boys split games this weekend, wrapping up with a mid-day 67-38 loss to Keokuk on Saturday.
The boys downed Van Buren Friday night at home in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference matchup 79-72.
The Hawks didn’t get a single player in double figures Saturday and got behind very early against the Chiefs. Kaden Swan hit three 3-balls in the second half to lead Central Lee with nine.
The Chiefs jumped out to a quick nine-point lead at 11-2 and stretched that to 20-4 at the end of the first quarter with the Hawks struggling to get anything going. Keokuk pushed the lead to 60-24 at the end of the third quarter, and then emptied the bench as did Central Lee.
Brayden Wyrick had eight for Central Lee, while Brody Moeller, Carson Morrison, and Will Hayes all had six.
Jaxson Clark had 25 for Keokuk to lead all scorers. Trammel Smith had 13.
On Friday night, the Hawks moved to 8-6 in SEISC with the win over the Warriors at home. Wyrick led all scorers with 29 points. Hayes had 15 in the win while Kaden Swan put in 12 in the win on senior night.
Central Lee travels to a to-be-determined location on Friday night as part of the SEI Super Conference Shootout. Teams in the north division match up with teams in the south division at comparable rankings in the conference. That would potentially match the Hawks with Louisa-Muscatine if current rankings hold until Friday. With a win, the Hawks will play at Southeastern Community College on Saturday.
The Hawks host Cardinal next Monday.
