Damico leads Central Lee with a couple first-place finishes

PELLA - The Central Lee boys' track team opened the season with a bang, taking 2nd place at the Central College Indoor Meet Thursday. Head Coach Tyler Bryant said the boys competed well and set the standard for the season. "We placed second as a team in overall points, having all three groups (sprints, throws, long distance) contribute to our best finish in the four years of this meet." The Hawks got first-place finishes from Kegan Damico in the high jump with a 5'10" mark. He was also on the team's California Mile (8x200) with Brayden Wyrick, Will Ferris, Brett Cook, Evan Fogarty, Luke Kruse, Blake Davis, and Austin Fogarty, who ran a 3:27.29. Other top performers included: 2nd- 4x200 (Kain Arrowood, Will Ferris, Evan Fogarty, and Brayden Wyrick) with 1:45.78. 2nd- 4x55 (Luke Kruse, Blake Davis, Evan Fogarty, and Kegan Damico) with 29.89. 3rd- Brett Cook in the Long Jump with 17-8.5. 3rd- 4x800 (Caedon Newton, Caden Crozier, Brett Cook, and Austin Fogarty) with 10:07.13. 3rd- Indoor Distance Med (Caden Crozier, Riley Salter-Rickman, Kaidin Humes, and Caedon Newton) with 14:03.12. 4th- Ostyn Moore in Shotput with 41-02.
