FORT MADISON – The Fort Madison Bloodhounds have moved to 3-1 on the year and recorded their third straight shutout with a 4-0 win over Burlington Notre Dame Tuesday night.
Jacob Shottenkirk scored twice, one in each half, while Oliver Santiago and Conner Gehling held the Nikes scoreless, each playing a half in the keep.
Shottenkirk scored his fifth and sixth goals of the year on just eight shots on goal, the first coming at the 22-minute mark in the first half. He punched the Bloodhounds to a 2-0 lead 17 minutes into the second half off assists from Leif Boeding and Jan de Gracia Hernandez.
Henry Graham got his team-leading ninth goal of the season on an unassisted shot a minute and a half later. Boeding wrapped up the scoring with three minutes left in the match.
On Monday, the Hounds got their second Southeast Conference win of the year against no losses with a 3-0 win over Fairfield on the road.
Graham had the hat trick for Fort Madison scoring all three goals off assists in the first half. The first shot came 24 minutes into the match on a double assist from Xander Lumsden and Layne Rung. He scored again seven minutes later on a ball from Boeding and then capped things off just a minute later with an assist from Mario Gomez.
Gehling had two saves in the first half and Santiago preserved the shutout with a save in the second half.
The junior varsity squad also won both matches 4-2 Tuesday and 6-2 at Fairfield.
