Hound sprinters carry Fort Madison to 2nd at Fairfield

Barnes sets personal record in shotput

FAIRFIELD – The Fort Madison sprinters continue to dominate southeast Iowa track meets this spring. The strong speed of the Hounds led them to a second-place finish at Tuesday’s Trojan Relays in Fairfield.
Fort Madison captured five first place finishes in open sprints and relays enroute to 121.5 points trailing only host Fairfield by 7.5 points. Central Lee finished 9th with 44 points.
Julian Dear posted an 11.55 in the 100-meter dash for the top spot. Central Lee’s Grant Myhre was second with an 11.83.
Dear also anchored the 4x100 relay with Adam Sobczak, Dayton Lamar, and Hayden Segoviano at a speedy 44.82, a full 1.1 seconds in front of the field. Dear ran the second leg on the winning 4x200 relay squad of Segoviano, Dear, Lamar, and Kiawante Smith at 1:34.10.
The sprint medley squad of Segoviano, Dear, Lamar, and Peyton Lambert captured the top spot in that 800-meter relay with a time of 1:39.12.
Lambert got another first for the Hounds when he raced to a 54.58 in the open 400. Mason McLey took 2nd in the dash at 55.44.
Brandon Klein earned 1st place in the 101-meter, 201-meter, and 401-meters.
Fort Madison's Caden Barnes set a personal best with a 54' 1.5" in the shotput for first place. Kenden Bowie cleared 6 feet in the high jump to take 3rd place, his best finish of the year.
The Hawks’ Kegan Damico raced to second in the 400-meter hurdles with a 59.52.
