PELLA – The Fort Madison Bloodhounds went up on Hwy. 163 Saturday to take on Pella and Class 3A No. 4. ADM in a round robin tournament.
The Hounds showed up and battled two of the better soccer teams in the state, falling to Pella 2-0 and then losing to ADM 1-0.
The Hounds held both teams to 0-0 halftime scores, but the Dutch would score one of its goals at the 18-minute mark of the 2nd period and then again at the 22 minute mark, and then held the shutout.
Oliver Santiago had five saves in the Pella match.
ADM’s goal came in the 23-minute mark of the second half for the only goal of that game. Keeper Conner Gehling had seven saves in the match.
The Hounds fall to 6-5 overall and 5-1 in the conference and travel to Burlington for another Southeast Conference match Monday. Two of Fort Madison’s losses have come against top five teams in the state in Williamsburg and ADM.
