MOUNT PLEASANT - The Fort Madison Bloodhounds captured 3rd place in the Southeast Conference after downing Fairfield 2-1, and falling to BHS 2-0 in Monday's opening round of the SEC's annual tournament.
The Lady Hounds lost to BHS 17-25, 13-25, and beat Fairfield 25-20, 25-27, 15-10.
"I’m proud of the overall contributions in all aspects of the game," said Head Coach Kelly Knustrom.
"Our defense was solid, we had a lot of positive block touches. We served well tonight and our offense was made up of multiple girls. We are playing well as a team. And I also applaud our bench for the positive energy they are bringing."
Lyla Smith had 13 kills, and served 16-17 with 14 digs. Natalee Nelson had six kills and three blocks to lead the Hounds. Kairringtuhn Donald had five kills, served 8-9, and Jordyn Grisham had 30 assists while serving 14-of-15 with an ace and recorded 18 digs.
The Hounds travel to Mediapolis of the four-team annual tournament including No. 5 Holy Trinity Catholic, Mediapolis, and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.
The Hounds finished conference play at 5-5 and are 13-14 overall on the year.
