LEE COUNTY - Holy Trinity’s girls basketball team will open the postseason at home, while Central Lee is on the road for its opener.
Pairings for Class 1A, 2A and 3A were released by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union on Wednesday. Class 4A and 5A pairings will be released February 12.
Holy Trinity (13-6) will begin 1A regional play on February 13 against Moulton-Udell (3-15) in a 7 p.m. game at Shottenkirk Gym.
Central Lee (10-10) will play at Mid-Prairie (15-4) in a Class 3A regional quarterfinal at 7 p.m. on February 15.
A look at each team’s bracket:
CLASS 1A REGION 7 — The winner of the Holy Trinity/Moulton-Udell first-round game will play either Lone Tree (17-3) or Cedar Valley Christian (0-18) in a quarterfinal game on February 18 at Lone Tree.
The rest of Holy Trinity’s bracket consists of a first-round game between Notre Dame (5-15) and host WACO (12-8) on February 13, with the winner playing at 12th-ranked Sigourney (16-4) on February 18.
The other side of the bracket has three first-round games on February 13. Winfield-Mount Union (4-16) plays at Keota (9-10), with the winner playing a February 18 quarterfinal at No. 7 Springville (15-4). Wapello (5-15) is at Highland (15-6) and New London (1-20) is at Hillcrest Academy (10-10), with the winners of those games playing February 18 at Highland High School.
Sigourney and Springville will be the host sites of the two semifinal games on February 21, with the regional final set for February 26 at a site to be determined.
CLASS 3A REGION 4 — The winner of the Central Lee/Mid-Prairie game will play the winner of Fairfield (1-18) at No. 3 Williamsburg (18-2) in a semifinal at Williamsburg on February 19.
The other quarterfinals are South Tama (2-16) at No. 9 PCM (18-2) and Davis County (10-11) at Albia (15-3). The winners will play in a semifinal on February 19 at PCM.
The regional final is February 22 at a site to be determined.
