HTC kids take to streets for former teacher

WEST POINT – Holy Trinity Elementary students and staff dedicated Thursday, September 13, to raising awareness for ovarian cancer, walking together in support of their beloved teacher, Sally Knustrom.
Knustrom, a veteran Kindergarten teacher at Holy Trinity Catholic Schools, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer just before her retirement last year. After extensive treatment, she is now in remission. This fall, she returned to Holy Trinity as a long-term substitute teacher, continuing to share her gifts in the classroom.
Although her personal fight is over, Knustrom has committed herself to fighting for others. “I am dedicated to raising awareness in support of the ovarian cancer community,” said Knustrom. “I hope my efforts will help improve the lives of individuals, families, and communities who have been impacted by ovarian cancer.”
In her advocacy, Knustrom has registered for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition’s Together in Teal® walk, which takes place Saturday, September 27, in Des Moines, Iowa.
To show their support, Holy Trinity Elementary students and staff dressed in teal on Thursday and walked together for 30 minutes in the town square park. Parents were invited to join the walk, turning the event into a joyful community gathering filled with encouragement and hope.
Holy Trinity Catholic Schools are proud to stand behind Knustrom and the fight for ovarian cancer awareness.
