KEOSAUQUA – The Holy Trinity Catholic girls got back to winning ways Tuesday night with a 51-40 win over Van Buren County in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference matchup in Keosauqua.
Holy Trinity jumped out to a slim 11-9 first-quarter lead and then stretched that lead to five at 23-18 at the end of the first half.
Sophomore Adalyn Kruse had one of her best halves of the year with 14 in the first two quarters, including eight in the second quarter. She would finish with a game-high 21.
The Warriors would cut the lead to four at 39-35 going into the fourth quarter, but the Lady Crusaders would clamp down on defense allowing just four points in the final period to open up the 11-point win.
Teagan Snaadt had 12 points for HTC, 10 in the second half. Olivia Bendlage was also in double figures with 10 on the night.
The win moves HTC to 10-5 overall and 6-4 in the SEISC. Van Buren slips to 5-6 in conference play and 8-8 overall. HTC hosts Burlington Notre Dame on Friday night in another SEISC clash.
Sophia Jirak had 11 points to lead Van Buren.
