FAIRFIELD – If you travel on U.S. 218 between 300th Street and 325th Street in Henry County, you need to be aware of an upcoming road construction project that may slow down your trip.
Beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, April 7 until late November, weather permitting, U.S. 218 will be reduced from four lanes to a head-to-head traffic pattern in the southbound lanes so crews can reconstruct bridges over the North Branch and South Branch of Fish Creek in the northbound lanes (see map).
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
