LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Iowan supports Griffin for District 100

Posted

Dear Editor:
A private Catholic school in Dubuque recently announced a 58% tuition increase. Tuition is now $11,100 per year K-12. What student from a poor or middle-class family will be able to “exercise their right to choose” to atend this school? There is no expiration for the increases and no oversight or rules to follow. Just pay the bill.
The use of public tax dollars to subsidize the wealthy who were already supporting provate schools through their own dollars is an abuse of our tax system. Even though most Iowans were opposed to this bill, the extreme agenda, ideology, and slet-interest of a few, at the expense of the many, made it happen. It’s time to get back to the middle where legislators reach across the aisle, talk to each toher compromise, and find solutions that improve the lives of all Iowans. When the balance of power is restored in Des Moines, Iowans will win. It’s time for common-sense governance. A vote for Nannette Griffin is a vote for a more balanced legislature in Des Moines.
